Font Collection "Māksla"
My final work for design school.
Font collection "Māksla" (Art in English)
Goal was to recreate and modernize old Latvian artists' typography works.
Year
2020-2021
Collection logotype.
These fonts are very different from each other and it was difficult to combine them altogether.
Solution was to use two fonts and one art style from artists.
"Māksla" - Madernieks font
"Font Collection" - Blumbergs font
Line art style - Vidbergs art style
Main font of collection is based on Latvian graphic designer's Jūlijs Madernieks work.
This font doesn't have lowercase letters, but different variation of letters.
Used this poster of his as main inspiration for font and followed similarities of his other typographic work to maintain same style, so they don't look too apart.
Coffee bean package design using Madernieks font.
Font that was based on Sigismunds Vidbergs' work.
Book cover that was inspiration for Vidbergs' font.
Chocolate bar design using Vidbergs font.
Font based on Ilmārs Blumbergs' work. Unlike other two fonts, this one has lowercase letters.
Text from theater poster that Blumbergs made is used as inspiration for font.
